Frequently Asked Questions
What do you mean by “handmade”?
Handmade simply means exactly what it sounds like. We use traditional methods for mixing, storing, and curing our products. Our soaps are made using the “cold processed” method which requires no external heat in order to saponify. Saponification is a chemical process, which converts a fat into soap by reacting with an alkali commonly known as “lye”. This method also allows the finished soap to retain the natural glycerin that is created during the process.
How should I care for my handmade soap?
Handmade soap retains all the natural glycerin created from the saponification process. Glycerin is a natural humectant that draws in moisture, and is the main reason why handmade soap is so gentle. It is also why it is best to keep your soap in a well-draining soap dish and out of the direct spray from your shower. Handmade soaps will also last longer if left to dry out between uses.
Do you offer wholesale products?
All of our 100% natural handmade products are available at wholesale prices and quantities and would be a wonderful addition to gift shops, spas, natural food stores, and other specialty retail shops. All of our products come individually wrapped in our branded packaging. You must be an active, verifiable and licensed business with a resale license and agree to our wholesale terms and conditions.
If you are interested in carrying Honey Milk at your store, please submit your order through our wholesale platform on FAIRE.
Do you custom-create products such as non-fragrant soaps and butters?
Yes, whether it’s a log of your own special soap or product with special ingredients, Honey Milk offers custom orders. We provide for special occasions such as weddings, Bridal and Baby Showers, Corporate and Fundraising events or any thankful occasion for family, friends and clients. Your order will be personalized in size, fragrance and packaging to create the perfect gift. Keep in mind that soaps require about 30 to 60 days to cure once made, please allow sufficient time for us to create your special order.
What do you use to make your soap?
All of our products are vegetable and fruit-based. We also use coconut milk, colloidal oats and several natural clays and salts in our soaps and products as well. Our soap is made from organic vegetable oils and butters, scented with pure essential oils (plant extracts) and fragrance oils, and colored with organic herbs and natural pigments. We do not use any preservatives in our soap.
How long will my soap last?
Generally speaking, our soaps will last for 18 – 24 months. The soap itself will last longer than 2 years, but the strong, fragrant scent might be lost within 6-8 months. As with all-natural products, it is best to use them as you receive them.
